It uses simple apparatus to help them understand not only how the iris functions, but how we see in colour, the blind spot and how stereoscopic vision works. The pupils use the short rail to discover for themselves the optical effect of different types and strengths of lenses used for correcting visual impairments. Experiments on after-images, the phi phenomenon and complementary colour perception allow the pupils to draw precise conclusions about the physiology of rods and cones.

Variable focal length lens

The accommodation mechanism of the elastic lens of the eye with its circumferential suspension is demonstrated in a straight forward and plausible manner with the help of a continuously deformable lens. It provides a convincing illustration of how the lens works together with the iris to produce a sharp, well illuminated image on the retina.

Contents

01.01.10 Storage case

34.02.00 Inlay with cut-outs for apparatus, B3

41.03.00 Tube light

34.04.00 Retort stand rod

05.05.00 Transparent screen

05.06.00 Lens, +50, in holder

05.07.00 Lens, +100, in holder

41.07.10
