Whereas linear experiment systems may only detect values of no more than 0.5 m\/s with respect to the speed of the receiver, this compact apparatus allows velocities of up to 35 m\/s to be achieved. The benefits of this do not only lie in the much greater precision achievable, but also in the total reproducibility of the initial conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The high velocity readings can be achieved thanks to the fact that the signal transmitter is actually rotating. Rotation of the apparatus is only possible, though, when a cover made of acrylic perspex, 4 mm thick, is securely closed.
