Experiment sets for Computer Science

Germany needs more computer science and IT professionals – this is indisputable and reflected in demands from politics and industry to establish computer science as a mandatory subject in all schools and to further strengthen its teaching.

With our first MEKRUPHY Computer Science experiment set, developed in collaboration with the Chair of Computer Science Education at the University of Würzburg, we aim to address this need and support both learners and educators with our refined, hands-on learning materials. An analog approach, linking to everyday experiences, helps overcome any apprehension and sparks students’ interest. The visual and tactile aspects of learning, along with playful elements, provide valuable assistance and motivate students to describe the insights they gain mathematically. Once students discover their enthusiasm for the subject, they are more likely to incorporate this interest into their future career choices.

Since the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been thrust into the public spotlight due to rapid developments in recent years and is now appearing in more and more computer science curricula, we have initially focused on this area.

The Student Experiment System

For 40 years, our MEKRUPHY experiment system has successfully relied on quality, practical relevance, and action-oriented teaching. The core principles are:

  • High-quality, Germany-made devices
  • Transparency – in both the didactic presentation and materials
  • Clear, compact storage in convenient experiment sets
  • Carefully tested accompanying materials for students and teachers
  • Close contact with schools and universities

Experimenting in small groups

The MEKRUPHY experiments are designed to be completed within a single lesson – with no preparation time required for the teacher and can be spontaneously conducted from the classroom situation or during a substitute class if necessary. Ideally, groups of two students explore a topic area as a team, using their numbered, assigned set, and then competently contribute their independently acquired insights to the group discussion. The completeness check when issuing and returning the experiment sets can be quickly performed by glancing through the transparent lid.

Made in Germany

Manufacturing in Germany ensures high safety, environmental, and social standards, as well as the long-term availability of spare parts. Where possible, production takes place in-house, guaranteeing quality, reducing unnecessary transport distances, and ensuring flexibility. This enables short delivery times.
